This Saturday, June 24, environmentally friendly electric transportation company, Bird, will be hitting the streets of Cochrane. With the recent announcement of shared e-scooter company, Roll, ceasing operations, Cochrane is excited to partner with Bird to carry out the remainder of the pilot project.

Launched in 2021, the shared electronic scooter pilot project serves to support Cochrane’s environmental and transportation goals of limiting carbon emissions, reducing traffic congestion and minimizing transportation gaps. The partnership with Bird will help reduce vehicle trips, road congestion and carbon emissions while providing a reliable and convenient transportation alternative.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bird to Cochrane and look forward to offering our community a new, eco-friendly and fun way to get around. Supporting Council’s Strategic Plan, this pilot project supports connectivity, vibrancy and livability in Cochrane,” says Mitchell Hamm, Community Services Director, Town of Cochrane. “Whether going to Historic Downtown or travelling along Cochrane’s extension pathway system, residents and visitors can once again enjoy the seasonal e-scooter service.”

“We applaud Cochrane for their commitment to offering convenient, environmentally friendly and reliable transportation options to residents and visitors,” says Austin Marshburn, Senior Director of Government Partnerships, Bird.

Starting June 24, residents can find select Bird e-scooters located throughout Cochrane with operations ramping up in the following weeks. The accessible e-scooters can be activated through Bird’s free mobile phone application.
