Canada Day – Canada’s 158th Birthday Celebration is Coming
The Town of Cochrane and Cochrane & Area Events Society (CAES) are happy to collaborate in the planning and hosting of Canada Day, to be held at Mitford Park on July 1. The festivities start at noon and end with lighting up the sky at 11:00 pm!
Did you know? All events organized by Cochrane & Area Events are free to attend!
An exciting addition to the children’s events this year is FitSet Ninja, a ninja warrior training and obstacle course facility which will be setting up an amazing and challenging course on Canada Day between noon and 7 pm.
During the afternoon, you can expect all your favourite activities such as children’s games, giant inflatable obstacle courses, petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, Gaga ball pit and more, all through the park. Don’t forget to visit the Pergola Stage for children’s entertainment. Check the schedules for more details.
As with every Canada Day, we have an exciting stage line-up planned. During the day, we are excited to welcome a new, and local, voice in the country scene, Turner Bates, along with Cochrane favorites Smoking Aces and Cochrane Sings.
Official opening ceremonies are at 2 pm with the National Anthem and greetings from local dignitaries.
The Canada Day evening Concert Series includes Calgary favorites 4 Moons of Jupiter, who will bring their infectious energy, spot on music choices and undeniable talent to the stage at Mitford from 5 to 6 pm.
The evening’s performances continue with the dynamic new country rock pop music duo of Jeff Catto and Lauren Mayell – say hello to Cayell at 6:30 pm. Back Road Traveler Band makes a return trip to our stage between 8 and 9 pm.
Enjoy all these bands from the comfort of your lawn chair or grab a table with friends at the Rockyview Brewing Company Beer Tent. Food trucks will be on hand to satisfy every craving!
Prepare for an amazing headliner act as Cochrane & Area Events Society is thrilled to welcome Faber Drive to the stage at 9:30 pm. Active in the Canadian music scene since 2004, Faber Drive promises some of their classics and some of their newer material, which is taking them in interesting new directions. We’re so excited we’re “Tongue Tied.”
Hang around and enjoy the fireworks display at 11:00 pm.
As with previous years, Cochranites are encouraged to take the Southland Shuttles or Colt as there is no parking at Mitford or on the street. More details on shuttles will be published in The Eagle and on our social media prior to Canada Day. Our website will have details on accessibility in our FAQ section.
Volunteers are needed to help out with this event. As with every event in town, CAES relies on volunteers to succeed. If you have a couple of hours to help out, please sign up on our Website at Cochraneevents.ca. Go to the Canada Day page and scroll down to the bottom for the sign up link.
In the spirit of reconciliation, we acknowledge that we live, work and play on the traditional territories of the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, Blackfoot Confederacy, Tsuut’ina, and the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta District 4.
