Cochrane families have a fresh reason to get excited this spring! Cochrane is officially one of the participating towns for Lemonade Day 2026, marking the first time local young entrepreneurs can take part in this well-known youth business program right here in the community.
WHAT IS LEMONADE DAY? Lemonade Day (June 13th) is a free youth entrepreneurship program open to children in Kindergarten and up. While the idea begins with a lemonade stand, the experience is about much more than selling a refreshing drink. Kids learn how to set goals, make a plan, build confidence and operate their own small business from start to finish. The program encourages participants to earn money, practice responsibility, and to think about how to save, spend and share what they make.
The journey begins with registration, followed by Lemonade University, where participants learn essential business skills. From there, kids can create their own lemonade recipe, design and builds a stand, and prepare for opening day.
Young participants are encouraged to partner with a local business to find a location for their stand, giving them the chance to meet customers, practice communication skills and to experience the pride of running a business in a real-world setting.
On Saturday, June 13th, 2026, lemonade stands will pop up across participating communities, including Cochrane, as children put their planning into action.
For parents looking for a meaningful, hands-on activity that blends fun with practical life lessons, Cochrane Lemonade Day offers a sweet opportunity to help kids explore entrepreneurship in an encouraging environment.

Did you know that Lemonade Day in Northern Alberta is presented by your local Community Futures Office?
The Lemonade Day program was brought to Northern Alberta in 2018 by one Community Futures office and was offered to participants in their region only. Since then, Lemonade Day has spread to 14 Northern Alberta Community Futures regions for 2025. Each year the program gets bigger and better and spreads to even more towns!
Community Futures has been helping rural small business owners achieve their business goals for over 30 years. They are a government funded, nonprofit here to offer free business coaching, guidance, business plan assistance and even financing to entrepreneurs in our regions.
They offer a wide range of youth entrepreneurship programs, business training opportunities and even support entrepreneurs with disabilities.
