COCHRANE, AB: The organizing team of the 2021 Cochrane Community Awards is pleased to announce the awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, October 3 (2 pm, Cochrane RancheHouse). A list of award nominees will be released shortly and tickets will be available in September.

Cochrane Community Awards is an annual program that recognizes outstanding local citizens, community leaders, schools, businesses and organizations who make Cochrane a great place to live. Awards are presented in 13 categories, including the prestigious Order of Cochrane, presented by Cochrane’s mayor and council.

“The ceremony traditionally takes place in the spring, but a decision was made to postpone to the fall to navigate COVID restrictions that were in place earlier this year, says Valerie McCracken, chair, Cochrane Community Awards. “From the number of nominations received it is clear there are many grateful residents who want to see local individuals, businesses and organizations recognized for the tremendous effort they have gone to in boosting our community during the pandemic.”

The Cochrane Community Awards program is overseen by a committee of local representatives including: educators, seniors, businesses, sustainability champions, as well as the Cochrane and District Chamber of Commerce and the Town of Cochrane. The program is funded through sponsorship from local businesses and groups who recognize the value in activities that encourage making Cochrane a vibrant place to live.

Awards will be presented Sunday, October 3 at the Cochrane RancheHouse. Sponsorship opportunities are available. Event website: www.ccawards.ca
