“Big Hill Haven is honoured to receive a $75,000 grant in support of our work.  This funding enables us to continue to provide support, resources and housing to those who are experiencing domestic violence in our community.”

Valerie Gilmore, Big Hill Haven Chair.

Airdrie-Cochrane MLA Peter Guthrie supported the grant and has been a huge supporter of Big Hill Haven over the years,

“I am pleased that Big Hill Haven’s CIP grant has been approved for $75,000. Big Hill Haven has been integral in enhancing the quality of life for vulnerable women and children experiencing domestic violence through access to economic and social resources. The funding provided by the Government of Alberta will contribute to Big Hill Haven’s ongoing efforts to provide essential services for women and children impacted by domestic abuse.  I am happy to support Big Hill Haven and I applaud the efforts of this wonderful organization.”

The demand for Big Hill Haven’s services continue to grow in the Cochrane area, with more nights of shelter being requested than ever. The Community Initiatives Program (CIP) Operating Grant of $75,000 will support Big Hill Haven’s operational costs. This program provides funding for organizations that create opportunities for Albertans to engage with and help develop their communities.

“This funding helps us to meet the growing need and we are grateful for the support of MLA Guthrie and Minister Aheer. This funding is hugely significant for Big Hill Haven and allows us to focus on the future.”
