STREET SWEEPING STARTS APRIL 19:
PLEASE MOVE YOUR VEHICLE

Residential street cleaning in Cochrane officially starts Monday April 19.

For the second year in a row each subdivision will be scheduled for a block of three days to ensure a thorough sweep and allow for flexibility for weather or mechanical delays. Sweeping will not occur on your regular waste, recycling and organics collection days.

Crews can most efficiently remove material from curb to curb if there are no vehicles on the road.

“With many people at home we understand it may be challenging to find off-street parking for a few days, we ask for your cooperation to help us get our streets clean and safe for summer” says Wally Hume, Roads Manager “Please use driveways, alleys and parking lots where possible”.

Notification signs will be placed at neighbourhood entrances 48-hours prior to cleaning with details for that area. Entrance signs will be removed when sweeping is complete and on-street parking can resume.

Residents are also asked to move curb ramps, hockey and basketball nets. These contravene Cochrane’s Traffic Bylaw and restrict the work of Town crews. Hockey and basketball nets should always be on private property.

Street sweeping creates significant dust. Closing windows during scheduled sweeping days may be beneficial. Town crews started their pre-sweep earlier this month, which should help reduce the amount of material to pick up during this year’s road clean-up.

The full schedule is on cochrane.ca/StreetSweeping. The schedule is confirmed by 8am daily on facebook.com/TownofCochrane and Twitter @TownofCochrane.
