Great Neighbour Week in Cochrane Events: June 15 – 22

Great Neighbour Week kicks off in Cochrane with a Block-Party Kick-Off Event!

JUNE 15th – 22nd – Chalk Your Walk – Neighbourhood Contest. Get creative and write/draw positive messages on your sidewalk or driveway to brighten up your neighbourhood. Submit your photos to neighbourhoods@cochrane.ca to have your name entered to WIN a prize.

JUNE 15th –
Block Party Kick-Off – food trucks, hot dogs, glitter tattoos, lawn games, music + more! FREE

Teen Night (Ages 13-18) SLS Centre, 800 Griffin Road E.  6:30-8:30 p.m. -Come and hang out with friends, listen to music, play basketball and volleyball in the gymnasium.

JUNE 16th – The Cochrane Walking Club – Meet at 240 Riverview Drive at 8am for a walk + optional coffee afterward at WOW Bakery.

JUNE 17th – Community Spaghetti Dinner –  Hosted by FCSS & Helping Hands – St. Andrew’s United Church (128 First Street E.) from 5pm to 7pm. *Free, everyone welcome. Vegan & Gluten-Free Options available.

JUNE 18th – Play N’ Learn Preschool: Celebrate Neighbours Family Resource Network, 127 First Avenue W.
| 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. | FREE, Drop-in – Celebrate Great Neighbour Week by stopping by the Family Resource Network to colour a picture and have it displayed in our windows for the week. 

JUNE 19th – Seniors on the Bow Neighbours BBQ, Seniors On The Bow (SOTB Labyrinth Gazebo)
SLS Centre, 800 Griffin Road E. | 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Invitation Only. Invitation open to Seniors On The Bow, SLS Centre staff and tenants. Please bring your own lawn chair.

JUNE 20th – Park Pop-Ups – Family Community Support Services / Family Resource Network | 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. | FREE, Drop-in. Join us for some fun in the park, we will be popping by parks with some treats!

9:45 – 10:15 a.m. Heartland Park – 139 Clydesdale Way
10:30 – 11 a.m. Fireside Playground – Fireside Blvd.
11:15 – 11:45 a.m. Centennial Park – 333 Mountain Street 

JUNE 21st – Community Connection Day – Give A Little Love Event & National Indigenous Day, United Way / Town of Cochrane / Wazin Îchinabi Ti. The Station, 360 Railway Street W. –  4 – 7 p.m. | FREE, Drop-in. Join us for a day of community connection. Participate in family friendly activities, enjoy a BBQ and learn about the unique heritage, diverse cultures and outstanding contributions of First Nations people, Inuit and Métis of Canada. Donations welcome! All proceeds, big or small help support social programming in Cochrane. JUNE 22nd Photo Walk – Cochrane Public Library, 405 Railway Street W.  – 2:30 – 5 p.m. | Registration Required. Bring your camera or smartphone and join us for a photo walk through the beauty around us.
You’ll have a chance to learn some photography techniques and ask lots of questions as we go. We will start at the Library. Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes for this event. To register: www.cochranepubliclibrary.ca/events 

Summer Kick Off 2024
SLS Centre, 800 Griffin Road E. – 7 – 11 p.m. | FREE, Drop-in. Free event for families and people of all ages and demographics. Live broadcast from CochraneNow. Beer gardens, bouncy castles, dunk tank, face painting, yard/carnival games. Meet the summer camp team, live demos, local community vendors. Drive-in style movie and more!
