Garmin Canada Inc., together with the Town of Cochrane and representatives from the Government of Alberta, unveiled plans for their expansion of a third floor to its existing location, to make room for 200 new science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) jobs in our community.

“Our office’s journey started in 1988 with four of us working out of a garage in Cochrane. It is incredible to be announcing this expansion and to be welcoming more team members to join us.” said Jim Rooney, Managing Director of Garmin Canada. “We are grateful for Cochrane’s support and alignment with our long term vision for future growth. I hear it from our associates every day… there’s no better place to live, work and play.”

Garmin Canada, formerly Dynastream Innovations Inc. has been developing industry-leading technology for the fitness and outdoor industries for more than 20 years. They moved into their current building in 2018 and have reached capacity in just over 4 years.

“Garmin Canada is a genuine Alberta startup success story, and we’re proud the company calls Cochrane home,” said Jeff Genung, Mayor of Cochrane.

While today’s announcement highlights a fabulous business in our community, it also shows how a community revitalization levy implemented a decade ago has shown to be incredibly useful and successful in growing Cochrane’s investment and job creation potential.
