Effective Thursday, September 1, at 4 pm, a fire restriction is authorized for the Town of Cochrane.
The decision to implement a fire restriction has been made based on the current and anticipated weather conditions. Fire hazard conditions are at a level where wildland fires can start and grow quickly.
During a fire restriction, certain types of open fires are restricted, including open wood burning fires and charcoal briquette BBQ’s. Town facility firepits at Riverfront Park, Mitford Park, and Cochrane Ranche are closed.
Wood burning fires in screened appliances such as indoor/outdoor fireplaces or Forno ovens are permitted, as well as gas or propane stoves/BBQ’s and portable propane fire pits and fire tables are allowed. Fires are permitted in campgrounds and approved commercial facilities.
This Fire Restriction notice shall be in effect until such time as the Fire Chief’s office deems appropriate to change for purposes of the Town of Cochrane Fire Bylaw.
