Effective Thursday, April 29, 2021, at 4:00pm, a fire restriction is authorized for the Town of Cochrane due to dry and windy conditions. All outstanding burning permits are suspended until further notice.
In a fire restriction, there is deemed to be high fire danger. Fire hazard conditions are at a level where wildland fires can start and grow quickly. Certain types of open fires are restricted. No open wood burning fires or charcoal briquette BBQs are allowed.
Wood burning fires in screened appliances such as indoor/outdoor fireplaces or Fourno ovens are permitted. Gas or propane stoves/BBQs and portable propane fire pits are allowed.
For more details on other allowed/not allowed devices, please see cochrane.ca/FireBan.
The fire restriction is in effect until the Fire Chief’s office deems appropriate to change for the purposes of Fire Bylaw 03/2014.
