In recognition of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II, Cochrane will be respecting the National Day of Mourning in Canada on September 19.

The National Day of Mourning in Canada is an opportunity for Canadians from coast-to-coast to commemorate Her Majesty.

The Jack Tennant Memorial Bridge will be lit purple in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and flags will remain at half-mast until sunset on Monday.

Municipal facilities will be closed. However, there will be no disruption of essential services. The Council Committee of the Whole meeting scheduled for September 19th has also been cancelled.

Cochrane Council and staff are encouraged to honour the Queen’s passing in the manner of their choosing, including viewing the national commemorative ceremony to honour the life and service of Her Majesty.
