Bistro Fare and 360 Rocky Mountain Views at The Juniper Hotel in Banff

With regionally sourced ingredients and menus + 360 views of the Rocky Mountains, a quick staycation to Banff during the off-season is a great way to relax and unwind with a romantic partner, or for a girls weekend away.
Where You’ll Stay:
The Juniper Hotel
1 Juniper Way, Banff, AB

This easily missed hotel is tucked along the Trans-Canada Highway in Banff, and promises not only the best 360 views… but is an ideal compliment to a day of Banff shopping, or hiking / biking / cross-country skiing in the valley.

We checked into our ‘Mountain View’ guest room at The Juniper Hotel and even though we had already said our oohs and aahhs over the view from outside, remarked once again about the view. Mount Rundle was showing off nicely that day, so we took a moment to simply take it all in.

The Wi-fi is free, so sign yourself in and send those last emails to say you are out of office, because you are definitely putting on a cozy robe and hitting the hot tub asap! Immersed in the beauty of the mountains and with all the comforts of home, The Juniper Hotel has a culinary adventure awaiting only steps away.

Where You’ll Eat:
The Juniper Bistro

With its wall-to-wall windows, the Juniper Bistro features delicious, made from scratch meals and is considered Banff’s #1 restaurant. Ethically sourced and plant rich – “brimming with gorgeous, nourishing veggies, as well as a selection of animal proteins from producers that care about the planet.” (Source www.thejuniper.com/dine/)

We decided to dine at the Bistro for dinner and enjoyed a 3 for $33 offering, where we picked three items each from a menu. The ambience and the food were both top notch, with no complaints from the full tummies department.

The next morning we took in the view, with a cup of our room-made french press roast and then hit the bistro once again for the Braised Alberta Short Rib Eggs Bennie (no photo but it DID happen).

If you like eating, you’ll love this bistro.

What We Did + A Banff Lunch Stop:

It had recently snowed, so we visited Lake Minnewanka with plans to cross country ski if the snow was deep enough. The sunshine on our faces was glorious and after a hike (the snow wasn’t deep enough to ski) + snapping many gloveless photos in the crisp air, we decided to hit up the streets of downtown Banff Avenue for lunch.

There were many lunch stop options, but on this day we decided to hit up the only craft distillery in the national park – Park Distillery Restaurant & Bar.

While we did not partake in any of the glacier water and grains sourced tipples that day, we enjoyed a feed of campfire inspired burgers and wings.

YOU SHOULD TRY: The Bison Burger – A bison and beef patty, double smoked bacon, crispy onions, swiss cheese, blueberry aioli, leaf lettuce, potato scallion bun and hickory fries.
