A Day of Community Connection + Events – June 21st

The Town of Cochrane warmly invites residents to join in a day of community connection on June 21 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at The Station (360 Railway St. W.).

With three events occurring in one venue, residents will have the opportunity to recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day, engage with Town staff to discuss local initiatives, and give back to the community to support vital social programs in Cochrane through FCSS and United Way’s ‘Give A Little Love’ campaign.

Last year, funds raised from this initiative helped over 13,000 Cochranites struggling with poverty, mental health, social isolation, domestic violence, intergenerational trauma and food security.

“We’re excited to come together on National Indigenous Peoples Day,” says Kim Krawec, Manager of Family and Community Support Services (FCSS), Town of Cochrane. “Every dollar raised at the ‘Give a Little Love’ event stays here in Cochrane. The day is a wonderful opportunity to connect with your community, celebrate our vibrant culture and enjoy fun family-friendly activities, all while making a difference by supporting those who need it most in our community.”

The day will feature activities including a BBQ, dunk tank, lawn games and an opportunity to meet the groups who receive funding. A tipi will also be set up outside The Station to celebrate  the rich culture, history and heritage of the First Nations, Metis and Inuit People of Canada together.

Inside The Station, residents can engage with Town staff about advocacy efforts, construction projects including the Historic Ranche and Glenbow Pathway improvement project, and water conservation programs.

COLT will also be available to ride for free from anywhere in Cochrane to downtown and back using the code: Givealittlelove.
