The Stockmen’s Memorial Foundation along with the Town of Cochrane and Bike Cochrane Society is pleased to announce the passing of a new bylaw transforming existing bike lanes into horse-only lanes.
The Stockmen’s has worked with the town over the past year to create a tangible way to celebrate our rich Western Heritage while also helping alleviate some of the Town’s current transportation congestion.
The Stockmen’s appreciates the understanding of Bike Cochrane in allowing some of these trails to become horse only and hopes it is just the beginning of a working partnership between the two groups.
Stockmen’s Executive Director Scott Grattidge admitted, “There are road apples on every trail but if you work hard, you can make a tasty pie out of them”.
It is hoped that these trails will differentiate Cochrane and give it a hoof up when it comes to promoting tourism for the community. Executive Director of Cochrane Tourism Jo-Anne Oucharek said “This will definitely be a unique tourism feature and is excited to add the trails to the Explore Cochrane App.”
