Some people call her “the Chicken Lady”, as she appears to be feeding the chickens at her feet, but one thing is for sure… we’ve all passed by her in town at one point or another and wondered who she was?

In 2003, the Cochrane Centennial Committee commissioned Studio West Bronze Foundry and Art Gallery (a local business) to create a bronze sculpture honouring all the hard working pioneer women who were involved in the dairy business.

The Legacy Statue is of a lady named Ella Patton, and has 40 names of Cochrane area pioneer women inscribed at its base. It stands opposite the Rockyview Hotel, in the Historic Downtown district.
