On the First Day of Christmas…

On the first day of Christmas,

my true love sent to me…

a partridge in a pear tree.

Now, I don’t know about you, but a partridge in a pear tree kind of sounds boring… no??

And, I do not believe that the first day should be any less exciting that the last day, so let me tell you a little story.

A long time ago (15 years ago this February 2019!)… a little store opened up on Railway Avenue in Cochrane, Alberta. This little shop first functioned primarily as a brand name consignment store, but soon it branched out into the world of baby products, like Robeez and baby slings.

“Admittedly”, says owner Bonnie Bend, “I started Great Things in Store as a plan to buy myself a job where I could bring my son to work, until he was old enough to go to school.”

A single mom at the time, Bonnie still thinks about how crazy/ambitious she was in thinking she could run a business and look after a baby/toddler/preschooler at the same time! In any case, Great Things in Store continued to grow with demand, adding on both new products and store space, until eventually, it became what it is today.

Great Things in Store is a store that specializes in baby and birthday gifts, but who also sells maternity and nursing clothing, toys, hats and winter gear, swimwear, footwear, women’s clothing – you name it, they probably have it!

Bonnie loves living and working in a town that is small enough to still know so many customers by name and to recognize them out in the community. Great Things in Store is also proud to support many local causes, especially those involving children, because they truly appreciate how many of their customers understand the importance of shopping local.
