“A team belonging to Mr. Geo. Kirkland took fright in the C.P.R. yard this afternoon and stampeded across the tracks onto First Street, where they collided with a telephone pole in front of the Drug Store. The hay rack to which they were harnessed was badly wrecked and the telephone pole was smashed completely off. The harness broke on the impact with the pole and the team continued their hasty journey out of town without any further damage.”
