From June 2 to 6, 2025, local schools like Elizabeth Barrett, Glenbow and RancheView, welcome hands-on lessons in strategic route planning and bike handling techniques.
This community-wide initiative, proudly presented by the Town of Cochrane in partnership with Kiwanis Club of Cochrane and Bike Cochrane, aims to instill lifelong bike safety habits and smart riding skills in our young cyclists. Free bike bells are up for grabs at various locations, adding a cheerful ring to this engaging week.
Residents can collect their free bike bells at several locations throughout Cochrane.

Strategic route planning is essential for safe cycling. It’s about understanding and navigating the safest paths from point A to point B. During Bike Safety Week, students will learn how to assess local routes, identify potential hazards, and choose optimal paths for their journeys.
Proper bike handling techniques are crucial for ensuring safety and control while cycling. This week, students will receive hands-on training to master essential skills.
One of the pillars of cycling safety is helmet safety checks. During Bike Safety Week, students will be taught the significance of proper helmet usage.
Cochrane’s active transportation plan includes various initiatives aimed at improving safety and accessibility for cyclists.
Infrastructure Development: Aimed at enhancing pathways and bike lanes to accommodate more cyclists. Cochrane currently boasts over 80 kilometers of trails.
E-Scooter Pilot Project: In collaboration with Bird Canada, providing alternative sustainable transport options.
Such initiatives not only improve the quality of life for Cochrane residents, but also promote a healthier, more active community.
