The Cochrane Pipe Band, based in Cochrane, Alberta, was established in 1999 and has since become a cornerstone of the local community, offering both musical and cultural enrichment. Over its 25-year history, the band has grown from a small group of enthusiastic musicians into a respected and celebrated pipe and drum ensemble.
The band was originally formed to preserve and promote the rich tradition of Scottish piping and drumming in Cochrane. Through its commitment to excellence, the Cochrane Pipe Band has participated in numerous performances, parades and cultural events, earning accolades and developing a strong following. It has also been involved in local celebrations, such as the Cochrane Days festival, the Carstairs Heritage Festival and parades around Alberta where it plays a prominent role in showcasing Scottish heritage.
The band’s membership includes individuals of all ages and skill levels offering a supportive and inclusive environment for several levels of musical ability. Over the years, the Cochrane Pipe Band has fostered a strong sense of community and tradition, making it a vital part of Cochrane’s cultural fabric. As it celebrates its 25th anniversary, the band continues to inspire future generations, sharing the joy of Scottish music with both local and broader audiences.
The Cochrane Pipe Band is excited to announce our 25th Robbie Burns Dinner on January 25, 2025! We are anticipating a sold out show at the Cochrane RancheHouse. Our guests will be treated to Scottish Country Dance Lessons, Burns poetry and trivia as well as a night of fantastic food and dance.
This year we are raising funds for ongoing performances throughout Alberta as well as an instructional trip in 2026. We have a few tickets left for our January 25th performance. Tickets sell for $125 each or a table of 8 for $1000
