The Town of Cochrane is excited to announce the launch of the Merry & Bright Community Awards, a festive celebration designed to bring holiday cheer and showcase the spirit of Cochrane. This initiative invites residents to light up their homes and neighborhoods, fostering connections and spreading joy throughout the community.
Director of Parks & Active Living Michelle Delorme expressed her enthusiasm: “Our Merry & Bright Community Awards offer a wonderful opportunity for Cochrane residents to showcase their creativity while fostering neighborhood connections. We hope this initiative will spread joy and create lasting memories during this special time of year.”
How to participate
Joining the Merry & Bright Community Awards is simple and fun:
1. Decorate your home, window, patio or yard to spread holiday cheer.
2. Submit a nomination form between December 1-12. You can nominate your own home or a neighbor’s.
3. Explore the festive displays using the virtual map starting December 16 at Cochrane.ca/merryandbright.
4. Vote for your favourite display between December 16-20 through the online voting form.
Award categories
Participants can enter one of three festive categories:
• Best Traditional Lights Display: Honoring timeless holiday charm.
• Best Small Display (Garden, Patio, Window): Celebrating creativity in compact spaces.
• Best Large Display (Full Yard/House): Recognizing impressive and expansive decorations.
Celebrate the season
On December 16, the Cochrane GIS team will release a virtual map highlighting all the nominated displays. Residents are encouraged to gather friends and family, hop in their vehicles, and take a self-guided tour of the dazzling lights across Cochrane. After exploring the displays, cast your vote for your favourite to help determine the winners. The Merry & Bright Award winners will be announced on December 23 via the Town of Cochrane’s social media channels.
