A Special Message from the Cochrane & Area Events Society (CAES)
For the second year now, the Cochrane and Area Events Society (CAES)
will be organizing a partial live and partial virtual Canada Day
Celebration, in partnership with the Town of Cochrane.
CAES is focusing on creating activities that will encourage people to
get out with their families/cohorts and participate in various ways.
There will be a mix of physical activities and online contests with
prizes and there will be live virtual entertainment and fireworks
are planned.
We are very excited to announce our live-Facebook broadcast
headliner, George Canyon, will be performing an exclusive 1-hour
show from an undisclosed location in Cochrane. This performance
will take place at 7:00 pm and will be broadcast on CAES’s
Facebook page on July 1.
George Canyon rose to becoming one of Canada’s hottest Country
Music stars in the early 2000’s and has won countless accolades and
awards, including Juno Awards, CCMA Awards, and ECMA Awards
to name a few. He has been inducted into the Nova Scotia Country
Music Hall of Fame, recorded 12 albums, and was presented a
certified Platinum Award for his debut album ‘One Good Friend’.

Angels, Drinkin’ Thinkin’, Daughters of the Sun, I Got This, I
Want You To Live, Slow Dance and many, many more, he is also a
huge Calgary Flames fan and is in his sixth season of singing the
National Anthem at the home games. Most importantly he is a
proud father and devoted husband.
Canyon is also well known and respected for his humanitarian work
and support of such causes as Juvenile Diabetes Research
Foundation (JDRF), and the Canadian Armed Forces which has led
to national and international recognition. Canyon is also known for
his numerous acting roles including Heartland, Trailer Park Boys,
Hallmark Channel’s “One Starry Christmas” and a guest starring
