Although many of Cochrane’s Emergency Service workers are finding themselves in stressful and precarious situations, they are still doing their best to lift the spirits of residents young and old.
Community parade dates have been announced for each and every community now (full list below), and Cochrane RCMP has shared that if their schedule allows, they will try to drop by birthday parties for youth.
Corporal Troy Savinkoff says the amount of support they have been shown on some streets has been absolutely awesome. “It seemed like a third of the street was out banging on pots and holding signs. Also, the donations to the Food Bank have been great! Keep it up, Cochrane!”
While Cpl. Savinkoff says they can’t guarantee all requests; the local department will do their best. “Right now, call volumes are about 30% less than normal, and members do have some time to do these little extra things. Interested residents need to contact the local detachment at 403-851-8000, and it will obviously depend on operational availability.”
The next community parade will occur tomorrow evening (April 8) in the community of Riversong beginning at 7 p.m. As a reminder, Cochrane RCMP is accepting food bank donations in the last vehicle of the convoy as long as people maintain proper physical distancing space.
