Reel in the fun with Family Fishing Weekend in Alberta – July 12th and 13th

This Weekend (July 12-13) is Family Fishing Weekend in Alberta!

Alberta’s Family Fishing Weekend offers an ideal opportunity to bond with loved ones while exploring the waters of our province. Whether you’re a seasoned angle or just dipping your toes into the world of fishing with kids, Alberta has something for everyone.

Organized by My Wild Alberta Fishing, these weekends are designed to transform fishing into an accessible, fun, and educational experience for all ages. Ready your rods and reels, and prepare to create unforgettable memories that will reel in excitement for both young and old alike.

You can participate at Cochrane’s own Mitford Pond!

Normally, this stocked pond allows for ages 13 & under to fish without a license, and to pull out one fish per day using bait.

If you are 14 or over, you must catch & release using barbless hooks or lures, absolutely no bait allowed.

A license is required by anyone over the age of 16.

BUT, on Alberta Family Fishing Weekend – EVERYONE gets to try out fishing!
