From the moment you enter The Boot in Cochrane, an authentic, family-owned Italian restaurant, a casual-style Italian diner where great food is set in a cosy atmosphere… you feel like you’ve stepped into a piece of Italy.
We began our meal with the Bruschetta Trio, a selection of classic tomato, grilled eggplant and roasted peppers.
I have to say, I will only eat my eggplant as a bruschetta topping from now on. This was an unexpected surprise, offering a nice twist on the traditional topping.
Our mains were hearty – I ordered the ‘special of the day‘, a piece of salmon with mushroom risotto, while my dining guest ordered the Spaghetti Polpettine with Meatballs.

The BEST Tiramisu ever! With mascarpone cream, biscotti dipped in espresso coffee and topped with cocoa power! Oh my!
We also had a serving of the Torta Ricota E Cioccolato (italian baked cheesecake made with ricotta cheese), and I say ‘we’, but really I mean my dining guest.
DO IT COCHRANE – this is a Cochrane must-try!
