SUMMARY:Concert: Found Sounds w/ Jessie Dans
DESCRIPTION:Tickets & Details. Found Sounds: A Bi-Monthly Music Series Found Books & Shop is partnering with Blue Willow Entertainment to bring you Found Sounds: a bi-monthly music series blending live performance with intimate conversation. Think Tiny Desk meets cozy listening room\, with a touch of podcast-style storytelling. \nBuy Tickets HERE \n \nJessie Dans is a Canadian singer-songwriter based in Calgary\, Alberta. She began sharing her music publicly in January 2024 with the release of her debut single\, “Weight I Bare\,” introducing a raw and emotional sound rooted in vulnerability and personal experience. \nWhat started as a personal outlet has grown into a powerful artistic voice. Jessie creates music to connect—with herself and others—through honest storytelling and expressive lyricism. She collaborates closely with Los Angeles-based producer Connie Ryan of Loft 4 Studios\, and spends countless hours in the studio with Calgary producer Made On Mars\, shaping the sound of her upcoming EP\, “Tom Ford.” A full-length album is also in the works\, scheduled for release in early 2026. \nWith over 5\,000 monthly listeners on Spotify\, Jessie is quickly gaining momentum in the Canadian music scene. Her music draws from moments of pain\, reflection\, and emotional complexity\, often blurring the line between poetry and melody. Constantly exploring new genres and sonic textures\, she continues to evolve as a dynamic voice in contemporary music. \nOpening with Miarlequin:\n \nMiarlequin is a casual interdimensional traveler who happens to be a whimsical music artist. Stuck between worlds\, she tries her best to be an inter dimensional troubadour. Crossing her fingers she does not end up in an alternate dimension where there is no life on earth. \nInspired by various artists amongst different dimensions\, including Mitski\, Pyotr Illyich Tchaikovsky\, Punc the singing Platypus and Steve. She vows to write her truth into music and thinks hard day and night to write lyrics she finds appropriate for expression. \nHer first memory of a favourite food is jello\, this event happened before any interdimensional traveling ever transpired. Short on words but never on melodies\, writing music became the preferred method of communication for Miarlequin.

SUMMARY:FOUND SOUNDS ft Eric John
DESCRIPTION:Found Sounds: A Bi-Monthly Music Series \nFound Books & Shop is partnering with Blue Willow Entertainment to bring you Found Sounds: a bi-monthly music series blending live performance with intimate conversation. Think Tiny Desk meets cozy listening room\, with a touch of podcast-style storytelling. \nEach event features a different musical artist who not only shares their songs but also the stories\, inspirations\, and creative process behind them. The result? An up-close\, personal evening where music and conversation flow together in a way that feels both raw and inspiring.Perfect for music lov \ners\, curious minds\, and anyone who craves connection through art\, Found Sounds transforms our bookstore into a warm\, one-of-a-kind listening space.Sept 27th\, 2025 we welcome Eric John to the stage. \nBorn in Saskatchewan\, Eric’s prairie roots have a deep influence on his musical style and approach to performing. His father was a musician and inspired him at an early age. He got his start playing bass in the church choir and by the time he was ten\, Eric was hooked on music\, performing\, and the art of storytelling. \nOld country music greats like Buck Owens\, Waylon Jennings\, Willie Nelson\, Merle Haggard\, Johnny Cash\, and Kris Kristofferson were played in Eric’s humble family home relentlessly growing up. He’s drawn to modern artists that have the same gifts as these legends and aspire to tell stories and share experiences through music the way they did. Though he played music his whole life\, it’s not until May of 2021 that he has been able to focus much of his time to this dream he’s had since he was 10. “If I can inspire one person with my music\, I will have reached my goal.”

That is until she finds a letter from Connor\, an Upperite boy who sends a wooden boat into the abyss\, hoping to learn more about the land below. Little does Jacs know\, Connor is actually Prince Cornelius of the Queendom of Frea. With wooden boats and hot air balloons\, the two begin a secret correspondence that lasts years. But their friendship is divided by a heavily-guarded bridge and an inescapable prejudice. \nThe strength of their bond was thought to transcend distance and time\, but when the royal family visits Jacs’ town of Bridgeport\, the illusion of peace between the Realms dissolves\, and the old feud is reignited. \nNow\, to save her people\, Jacs must infiltrate the Upper Realm and earn her place to compete in the Contest of Queens. She must learn how to survive against the contests’ grueling tasks and within a political web she could not have imagined. In a story about friendship\, love\, bravery\, and defying gravity\, Jacs will strive to prove that a Queendom is strongest when united. \nDon’t wait to secure your ticket! You will want to learn all about the Frean Chronicles!

SUMMARY:Poetry Reading and Signing with Anna Veprinska: Bone Memory
DESCRIPTION:GET YOUR TICKETS HERE! \nJoin us at Found Books & Shop for a Poetry Reading and Signing with Poet Anna Veprinska. Anna will be with us for a calm evening to read selctions from her latest publication\, Bonememory. \nPLEASE NOTE! Books have to be ordered well in advance for this event\, so if you want to secure your copy for the evening\, be sure to choose the Book Included Ticket before JUNE 12TH. If you have your own copy already\, want to just come and enjoy the evening\, or order a copy on the night of the event\, choose the General Ticket option. We can not guarentee there will be extra copies of Bonememory on the night of\, so get your Book Inclusive tickets early! \nWhen: Tuesday July 29th\, 7:00-9:00pm (Doors Open 6:30pm)\nWhere: Found Books & Shop\, 208 1st Street W\, Cochrane\, AB T4C 1B7\nCost:\n-Book Included Ticket: $18.99 plus taxes and fees (Available until June 12th to guarentee a copy of Bonememory)\n-General Admission: $4.99 plus taxes and fees (Available until the day of the event). \nAbout Bonememory: \nOur memories\, and the memories of others\, live in our bones. These poems document personal\, intergenerational\, and collective trauma—and the astonishment of survival. Memory is stored in the body. Memory sprouts in families and is transmitted from one generation to the next. Memory imprints at the level of bone. In Bonememory\, Anna Veprinska bares down to the marrow. An expert lyric poet writing at the intersection of memory and pain\, Veprinska fearlessly traces intergenerational histories of struggle and survival. This collection confronts the indelible marks left by immigration\, the Holocaust\, Canadian settler-colonialism\, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Amid these various upheavals\, Veprinska finds herself within her own body\, facing chronic illness and navigating disability. Bonememory is an investigation of history and memory studded with moments of insight and revelation. Written with a keen eye and close attention\, these poems balance lyrical tenderness and formal experimentation\, never forgetting that extending into another can be an act of care and an act of invasion. \nMake sure to get your tickets early HERE!
