Horse Creek Heritage Candy & Gifts, a 1400 square foot emporium of all things local, sits next to the famed MacKay’s Ice Cream Shop and has been open since April of 2017.

“People asked me, ‘Why a candy story in Cochrane?’ and I felt there was a need … I really wanted to buy local and to support Alberta entrepreneurs.” says owner, Shelley Willison.

While Horse Creek Heritage Candy & Gifts might have you thinking it’s ‘just a candy store’, owner Shelley aims to put the emphasis back on buying local, for both edible and non-edible items.

“The fact is, only a tiny portion of our store is candy.” explains Shelley. “We want the people of Cochrane & area to know that we also have an amazing gift selection, and that if you’re on the hunt for that hard to shop for person on your list, we’ve likely got the answer you’ve been looking for!”
